How long do spices last? Whole spices last about a year. As soon as you grind a spice it begins to loose its potency. Herbs are more fragile.They only last 6 months. If you have old herbs in your cupboard they can add a nice flavor & aroma to whatever you're grilling. Just throw them onto the coals in the last moments of grilling.
